This Tour begins with the departure of the city of Oporto towards the city of Aveiro, considered the “Portuguese Venice”. Aveiro is distinguished mainly by its network of canals that cross the city and where the colourful Moliceiro boats float. In the oldest area we can observe the origins of the city, the picturesque whitewashed fishermen’s houses and watch every morning at the auction of fish freshly caught at night in the fish market. As for gastronomy, Aveiro is synonymous of its gastronomic ex-libris, Ovos Moles, an inheritance of the conventual tradition.
We then set off for Coimbra, through which flows the Mondego River, with its preserved medieval structure and the historic University as its main attraction. The city has a rich historical, architectural and cultural heritage, now recognized by UNESCO, so be enchanted by the beauty of Coimbra: narrow streets, courtyards, stairways and medieval arches. The first University of the country was born in Coimbra and is one of the oldest universities in the World with a record of the year 1290. Coimbra is a city of students but more than that, it is a land of traditions where the past and the future are crossed.
