Itinerary Portugal Centre and North – 6 Days

1st day

We begin our day with a fabulous tour of Lisbon is an illuminated city. The Tagus and the sun almost always present, make the Portuguese capital a colored mirror in which the beauty and the architectural contrasts do not go unnoticed in this city with blue sky all year and a mild winter is not surprising that is fashionable and walks in world mouths. After lunch follows the picturesque town of Sintra once much appreciated by Portuguese and European bourgeoisie, it has a rich collection of palaces like Pena Palaca considered one of the most beautiful palaces in the world, following the Palace of Seteais famous for its beautiful unique gardens in Portugal. Time yet for a passage by cascais Cascais considered by many the Portuguese Riviera, Estoril and Cascais are full of glamor and charisma. With many attractions in a small space and exceptional framework in terms of nature, culture and heritage.

Day 2

In the morning we leave the sunny city of Lisbon to explore the charming medieval town of Obidos surrounded by the imposing walls of the century XIV that make up a well-preserved castle. We will go through its walls and landscapes of small alleys and churches, at the end of time to savor the Ginjinha of Obidos. We follow then to Nazareth to walk in the narrow streets, make conversation and photograph “woman of the seven skirts,” eat fresh fish and climb to the sights of Pederneira and the Sítio and then down to the beach by the centenary lift. Long gone are the days when there was no beach because of the sea insistence on advancing earth inside. So, until the sixteenth century, the Nazarenes lived in Pederneira and local Sítio that together with the beach are to Nazareth, then follow to Batalha city that houses the Dominican Monastery of Santa Maria da Vitoria raw work of Gothic architecture, heritage of UNESCO.

Last visit of the day will be in Fatima and its Sanctuary which is one of the largest centers of pilgrimage to the Virgin Mary in the Catholic world, the famous sanctuary of Fatima attracts about 6 million pilgrims each year visit the Basilica of Our Lady, the chapel of the Apparitions and the home of the three little shepherds in the Cova da Iria, after day so rich then we follow to Porto for to lodge in the hotel.

Day 3

The city of Porto is the 2nd largest Portuguese city considered European destination of 2014 the port better known for Invicta city is full of life and activities.

The Port bathed by the banks of the Douro River the city is full of historical monuments worth a visit especially Clérigos Tower, Palácio da Bolsa, Porto Cathedral or the Library Lelo. The old downtown is fairly well preserved because in recent years has undergone several improvements that impress all those passing by, the narrow streets hide small taverns where it stands out the typical Northern gastronomy with clear emphasis on the Famous Francesinha most famous dish of that region.

For those visiting Porto jumps at the view the famous cellars of Port Wine across the bank of the Douro where we found the best “balcony” for the entire downtown Porto and Ribeira neighborhood on our tour we will go to a wine tasting of Porto Wine and also the famous boat ride on the Douro river where you will tour the famous six bridges connecting Porto to the city of Gaia. The Dom Luis I Bridge jumps within sight for its unique architecture, completed its construction in 1888 with 2 trays where vehicles, people and train almost share the same track.

Day 4

We leave the city of Oporto towards the Douro Valley singular place where the combination of climate, river, grapes and man’s effort gave rise to the first demarcated region of the world’s wines, the production of Port wine. Picturesque location, verdant landscapes and lush nature, Douro invites all visitors to a temporary abstraction of reality, we begin our tour by Amarante which is rich in historical and cultural heritage. Crossed by the river Tâmega and surrounded by mountains, this pretty town proudly displays its houses of the seventeenth century, with its colorful wooden balconies decorating the narrow streets The city of Amarante is characterized by its relationship with the mountains and the river, this seduces us with its banks surrounded by trees, passing also by Calda Moledo before arrival in Peso da Regua Peso and its origins remain unknown, but the legend says that a rural Roman house called “Villa Reguela” existed here. However, it increased from 1756 due to the creation of the General Company of Alto Douro Vineyard Agriculture. Marquis of Pombal, who was the founder of the wine world’s first region, created this institution. The Company’s warehouses were therefore built in Peso da Regua, and the first “wine fairs” In 1998, it was ranked as the International Wine and Vineyard City. Its natural landscapes are absolutely unique, since the wine region Alto Douro has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site, then we leave the pine cone which is another base in the Douro Valley, where Port wine dominates the culture, the city is at the base of hills covered with vineyards and spectacularly formed at the confluence of the rivers Douro, highlight also for the fabulous train station with its typical Portuguese tile panels painted with the Douro valley images.

Day 5

We leave the city of Porto in the morning towards Braga former city of Romans and later “city of archbishops,” Braga is one of the main religious centers of Portugal, which strongly predominates the Baroque.

We will find out their main places of worship, its historic center, its green landscapes and delighted with the typical flavors of this famous region.

We follow then to the city of Guimarães considered the birthplace of Portugal, Guimarães offers us a magnificent historic center classified World Heritage by UNESCO (2001). We know the corners of the European Capital City of Culture in 2012, where you can appreciate the evolution of a city of medieval origin, which retains its authenticity today.

Day 6

We start our day with parting the city of Oporto toward Aveiro affectionately known as the Portuguese Venice is crisscrossed by streets where water slide the colorful moliceiros boats, which gives it a special character. Who hears about the city of Aveiro, associates it immediately to your gastronomic ex-libris the Ovos Moles Aveiro monastic tradition heritage, it follows Coimbra of narrow streets, patios, stairways and medieval arches, Coimbra bathed by the Mondego river it was the cradle of birth of six kings of Portugal and the First Dynasty, as well as the first University in the country and one of the oldest in the world and the first registration as a university happens at 1290. Coimbra is a land of students but more than that, is a land of traditions where they intersect the past and the future that has more charm at the time of dismissal.
